Young Adult Ministry of the ELCA
The Young Adult Ministry of the ELCA offers inspiration, opportunities and resources for young adults and for people who facilitate young adult ministry in their communities of faith. We are a church that belongs to Christ, and there is a place for young adults here. The ELCA is expanding its vision of what it means to be church and to engage a population of young adults who seek authentic community and opportunities to serve their neighbors. Young Adult Ministry works to support and connect young adults and those who work with them.

  • Continue to give to ELCA ministries through Where Needed Most, making a difference in the lives of young adults who live and serve around the world and are becoming leaders in the church at every level. Your mission funding director can assist you in finding a method of giving that best fits your needs, or get in touch with us at 773-380-2700, or toll-free at 800-638-3522.
  • Learn more on the Young Adult Ministry website and on social media. Read more about these ministries here, and check out their Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts for more stories and insight into their work.
  • Find a local Young Adult Ministry, and offer support and encouragement more directly. There are ELCA ministries for young adults all around the country, with more in development all the time! We invite you to get in touch with a local campus ministry or Gather community, who are always looking for volunteers, board members, meals, advocates, supportive mentors and more. They would love for you to connect them to the college students and young adults in your life!
  • Support the Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program and its pathway to leadership in our church. YAGM volunteers are future ELCA leaders, whether lay or ordained. Learn more about the program here and forward this link to a young adult who might be interested in the program. Applications are open now!
  • Sign up to receive updates from ELCA Young Adult Ministry You can expect to receive updates once or twice a month from program staff, including news about new ministries and stories from ministry sites.
  • Tell your congregation and your friends about this work. ELCA Young Adult Ministry reminds us that the future of this church is bright… and so is its present! These ministries and their leaders need our prayers and our support, but they also need us to tell their stories. Invite a leader to speak at your congregation, lift up these groups at prayer time and tell your Bible study group about the passionate voices you heard in this Fireside Chat.
