Our Purpose Statement “As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.”
The WELCA year has been difficult with so many of our planned projects such as Spring Gathering and then the Fall Gathering of the women of the NWMN Synod, our Mystery Travel Trip, lefse making and other fun things.
However, we were able to continue to support our the Bible Camp Fundraiser, our sponsorship of Sonshine Ministries and our Annual dispersement of funds in support of the many organizations in our community and church.
Because of our shared responsibilities and sponsorship with the Church Council of our annual Smorgasjord/2021Fall Dinner, we were able to have an additional influx of funds that we chose to donate to the several families in our county dealing with extreme medical costs.
Our Bethany quilters stayed active this year sewing and donating quilts where they were needed and those women are greatly appreciated. The Mission Action Group supported the Salvation Army with school supplies, the Violence Intervention Project and local Emergency Rooms with Lily Bags, and the Care and Share in Crookston.
It was also greatly appreciated that we were given the privilege to lead Sunday Worship with our Thankoffering Service. The extra donations go to help women support programs all over the world.
Finally, while our Mary (evening) and Dorcas (morning) circles will continue to meet on the first Wednesday of the month, our Women of the EKCA (WELCA) has decided it will be on hiatus.
Our current officers have now served 3 – 4 years consecutively, and sadly have been unable to find volunteers to continue the job. Because our bi-laws have restrictions of the length of consecutive service, it is passed time for us to step down.
I, personally believe that “someone” has been called to fill our shoes. IS IT YOU?
If you are able to take our places on the board, please contact Chris Van Emmerik, former President, Kathy Murphy (nominating committee) Marion Bjourgan, former Treasurer and (nominating committee), Alison Lacina, former Secretary.
Our women will continue the work of quilting, gathering donations for others, etc. through out the year as God desires. President, Christine Van Emmerik
Thank you for supporting our Bible Camp Scholarship,
Here is a picture of Carolyn Roff with two prayer shawls of the many she has made. She has been doing this ministry since last year. These shawls are prayed over as she makes them and also by the Women's Bible Study group. They are given to people in need.
Women's Bible study is currently meeting at 9:00 am on Wednesdays.
The Women’s Bethany Bible study group met this morning at Sandy Bertilrud’s. Cathy Gilleland, Marion Bjorgan, Carolyn Roff, Marie Seeger, Linda Hoffman, Pastor Graff, Terri Hams, Mavis Arvidson, and Bev Gilbertson.
