Annual report /WELCA 2020
As 2020 closed out without our usual meetings, bake sales, quilt sewing, lefse making, hosting the Spring, then Fall Gathering, Christmas Party and of course gathering together with all Bethany members as we prepare, host and serve our Annual Smorgasbord meal, our board felt our biggest regret was not being able to have our Fall distribution of funds to the many service organizations needing even more help in 2020.. However, that didn'tstop our giving. Members continued to sew quilts that were donated locally, along with the donationsof school supplies, Lily Bags, and personal care items where there was a need. But then, because of the CARES Act, and a grant, we received $6000. This allowed us to have our annual distribution plus it allowed us to increase our giving to several organizations. As President, I wish to give special thanks to Marion Bjorgan for her help in writing the grant and to all our WELA Board members who gathered together through emails and Facebook to continue the work of our organization. And, their willingness to continue the task as we enter into 2021.
The next meeting of WELCA is Wednesday, ? The general meeting is at 6:30 pm.
Open to all confirmed women of Bethany
“Come and See”, John 1:39-41 has been chosen as the Theme for Bethany's Women of the ELCA for 2019.
“Come and See” is the invitation that Jesus gave to His first disciples, the Apostle John being one of them. “Come and See” is the invitation that Jesus gives to people today.
“Come and See” is the invitation we send to all confirmed women of Bethany. Join us at 6:30 on the 3rd Wednesday of the month for fellowship, worship and service. We NEED you, regardless of age, abilities and even attitudes. We have lots of work to do sharing God's love and joy.
Please join us.
Here is a picture of Carolyn Roff with two prayer shawls of the many she has made. She has been doing this ministry since last year. These shawls are prayed over as she makes them and also by the Women's Bible Study group. They are given to people in need.
DEC 2020 - Quilts - thanks to our ladies for distributing some of our quilts to the "Violence Intervention Project" shelter in TRF and the Salvation Army serving our county.
Come join the fun! Winter quilting Wednesdays beginning at 9:30 am. You don’t have to know how to quilt as we need people to tie knots, thread needles, cut fabric and enjoy the day with the group! Lunch included. We will meet each Wednesday EXCEPT the week of circle when we will meet on Monday at 9:30 am.
Quilts on Pews – There is a total of 32 quilts sewn by our quilting group that will be donated to Lutheran World Relief and Inter County Nursing to be distributed to families in need.
